The Highlights - Devil on Your Shoulder
Go on. You know you want to.
The Highlights

Catching up after the holidays.  Here's what happened;

  • Drove to and from southern Indiana (11 hours, one way) for Christmas.
  • Drove through snow and slop on the way there; bird hit my windshield on the way back.  Windshield fine. Bird, now resides in sparrow heaven.
  • Got books and dvd's and gift cards and action figures and lunch boxes and a set of Henkel knives.  Mmmm...sharp knives.
  • Completed The Great 2008 Harry Potter Re-read.  Cried over book seven. Again.  Also blocked and filmed the Battle of Hogwarts in my mind.
  • Car required service to the tune of $1,000 when Check Engine light comes on after I get home.  I was not well pleased.
  • Did not travel on New Year's due to wind, cold, and severe apathy.  Made Chex Mix without the wheat cereal because the wheat ones suck gangrenous demon balls.
  • Did not travel to Charlottesville even though I really wanted to because Check Engine light came on...AGAIN!
  • Car's onboard computer can't believe the valve I got replaced is fine just as it is.  Think's the valve is running too well, hence, the warning.  Car has been put On Notice to knock that shit off.
  • Read the Russell T Davies book and  Harry, a History.   The Davies book is excellent, full of insights about Dr. Who, and it's funny and sad and it just makes me want to hug Russell.  Harry, a History is interesting and as linear as a book about a huge crazy-pants fandom can be, but the author was never in any fandom before Potter so she does not know that while Potter may be the biggest worldwide, it was not the First Big Internet Fandom.  There's X-Files and Buffy and Highlander and Farscape and, Lordy, Star Trek and...well there's a lot she doesn't know.
  • Came back to work after two weeks off and will not complain about it as I'm happy to still have work to come back to.
I really have to stop with the after Christmas sales.  The Body Shop has some really good stuff for crazy cheap which I don't need, but I am now stocked up on the Amber smell of bath stuff/soap/scrub/lotion for about a year for $50.   Must. Save. Money!

Well, maybe right after I get one of these.

I'm sorry about your car trouble. Especially during the holidays.
I finally made the caramel popcorn with nuts stuff and have been munching for 2 days. Now if the rain and wind would stop, I could get to the grocery store.

What color did you decide for the kitchen?

Blue. Which blue is still open. There are technical difficulties with the tape sticking to the wall. I refuse to use nails.

How funny. I re-read all the HP books over the holidays. And Arifa is re-reading 6 and 7.
