Birthday Weekend Recap and Photo Cavalcade - Devil on Your Shoulder
Go on. You know you want to.
Birthday Weekend Recap and Photo Cavalcade

After evenings spent on errands and general mayhem, I finally had a chance to get my weekend photos off my camera.  My BESTEST BIRTHDAY EVER photos!

beeej  and I drove to Philadelphia to see Cinematic Titanic live.  *sparkly hearts!*

The drive to Philly from Northern VA should take about 3 hours.  Due to rain of biblical proportions, it took about 487 hours.  Things heard during the drive:

"Son of a BITCH!"
"I gotta go potty."
"Where's the damn gas station?  That sign lied."
"Fucking trucks!"
"I'm so sorry."
"This will never end."
"Garmin lied to us"

We eventually got to the hotel, got checked in and discovered that the Hampton Inn in Philly has serious trouble with their WiFi service.  beeej  was very put out.  My brain was full of finally seeing Joel Hodgson in person after 20 years so my brain was elsewhere.

We got to the theater where we stood in line waiting for the doors to open and chatted up the other nice people standing in line.  One couple had attended the show the previous evening and using their intel, we were able to find good seats in the general admission rush.  The show started late, but I didn't care.  When the movie started it was non-stop funny.  I haven't laughed like that in a very long time.

Pre-Show:  J. Elvis, Frank and Dave "Gruber" Allen entertain the crowd.

Joel Hodgson answers audience questions

At the conclusion of the movie, there was the signing.  I won't say anything about the organization of the autograph line, because there wasn't any!  *ba-dum-dum*

Turning my camera over to [info]beeej , I could focus on getting my episode guide signed and trying very hard not to say something stupid.

On the left: J. Elvis "Josh"  Wienstein , Mary Jo Pehl and Frank Conniff.
I appear to be showing Josh how to do the Hula.

Me and Trace Beaulieu.  Who's goofier?

And the big moment

Joel Hodgson!!  He touched me!!
(Yes, I'm 12 years old)
I look like someone is holding a gun on me, but I'm just really freaked out.

We drove back  home on Sunday, got Mexican food for lunch and decompressed with a few episodes of Babylon 5.  Perfect.  Thanks to Beeej for driving.  You're the best!

In other birthday news, I got my netbook!  She is so cute, but since she does not yet have her skin, she's naked and doesn't want me to take a photo of her.  Her name is Gypsy.

The pictures came out great! I'm so glad!

Damn, that was fun. I hope they come 'round this way again, possibly closer next time. Now I feel like digging up old eps of MST3K to watch. ;)

The company that promotes Dylan Moran in the States also reps Cinematic Titanic. Coincidence?

I'm thinking Wolftrap would be a good venue.

The toy notebook got a shiny new bag from Best Buy. It's medium gray, maybe a little darker than this background and has yellow flowers. Storage and pockets on the inside for toy stuff. Too cute!

Accessories! I'm seeing some tapestry-ish bags on Etsy that may need to come live in my house.

Yay for birthday fun! What movie did they do? Was it the Mexican vampire movie that I can't remember the name of that they did when they were here in Boston?

Also, your glasses are extremely cute.

They did "Danger on Tiki Island". It was terrible. There was a monster, a bitchy wife, a closeted older husband, a young do-gooder, ladies getting sacrificed and mute dwarves. Don't get me started on the "mutated plants" The perfect vehicle for these guys.

They seem to have about four movies they do live that have not yet been released on DVD. I want to see them again, like, right now.

Thanks about the glasses! I have about four pair but always seem to end up with my "I work in an indie music store" frames.

Cinematic Titanic

I'm so glad you had a great time! It's absolutely amazing seeing the lengths the fans go to to see the live shows. We'll be back!

Very best,
